"Nice hotel close to the old town of Funchal"

The Location of the Hotel is great ! We had a phantastic view overlooking the pool and the garden of the Hotel and the port with the cruise ships. Found some nice Restaurants in 10 min Walking distance. Did not like the Restaurant of the Hotel because the asked for "forma Dress code".
"Big, fun resort with balconies overlooking the oce"

Very nice property. Lots of families with small kids and plenty of things to keep all ages busy. Nice included buffet breakfast. Two big swimming pools, plus kiddie pool. 20 minute walk to Funchal was easy and fun and many other tourists were doing the same thing. Public buses also available for anyone who might have trouble doing the walk. Taxis available but can be pricey.
"Great location and access to island activities"

The Hotel is architecturally stunning, the hotel rooms are on the small size and air conditioning is an after thought in the older section of the hotel, and in the large in-house restaurant. The food can be stunning, however, on average for an island with the ability to grow anything, fresh fruit selections at the morning buffet are sparse. Afternoon and evening breezes especially during "happy hour" on the patios are wonderful. There is a great restaurant for lunch or dinner right next door, as well as others in the near by down town area.
"Beautiful place to stay at"

I stayed in this hotel with my parents for one week and we had a good time. People are very kind and helpful in the hotel. It's clean and well maintained. There could be different choices at breakfast on the different days as this can be boring for people after a while. The restaurant's food is not recommended, it simply has no taste but there are many restaurants in the surrounding area. The swimming pool area is well maintained and the bar is a good place to get some refreshment in the hot weather. There is path down to the ocean/ beach ... the cost of getting into the beach is 4.5EUR ... it would have been a nice gesture by the hotel if the hotel guests could enter the beach for free. The downtown of the city is quite a long walk, but it's a nice walk.
Overall we had a great time and I wouldnt mind staying in this hotel once again.
