Very nice hotel, tastefully decorated rooms, and very friendly staff which does everything to make you feel good. We were travelling on a motorbike and asked to store 2 huge bags there for the duration of three weeks. No problem, and we weren't charged a cent. Breakfast buffet was fantastic, large choice of regional and international food. And we felt safe through out our stay there. I cannot comment on the bar/restaurant and/or recreational facilities as we didn't use them. We had chosen the hotel for its proximity to the airport and were pleasantly surprised by what a good choice it was. If you don't want to avail of the hotel restaurant, there is a small supermarket and a couple of fast food chains and other restaurants within walking distance. We would stay there again! Hanna”
The hotel is in a ruin of a covent. Included in your accommodation is a free visit to the ruins which you should take. At the beginning of your stay because so there are so many visitors to the hotel as a tourist attraction is seems strange but the visitors are not allowed into the area where the rooms are and they also disappear in the evening. The setting is very nice. Rooms are good. Pool nice. The hotel also offers a free bus trip up to a restaurant they own overlooking Antigua. You can take the bus even if you don't go to the restaurant.”
I love to stay at Tikal Futura! The hotel is beautiful, the staff are welcoming and courteous, the 3-story shopping center adjacent is excellent and the variety of food venues w/in the 1/4 mile radious is unbeatable! I'm sure I will return to Tikal Futura each time I return to Guatemala.”

We had a wonderful time. This hotel is absolutely beautiful, and within walking distance to all the local shops and surrounded by so much culture. The staff were all wonderful and very friendly. Would love to visit again one day. Thanks for a great time!”
Hotel Soleil is a beautiful resort. The rooms are very clean, lawns and swimming pool well taken care of. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast buffet and food was great. I loved my stay here. Dont forget to get a massage from their Thai Spa.”
This hotel is not only the best hotel that's close to Tikal but also just an amazing place if you want to relax and unwind. The location is superb (right in the middle of a protected area on lake Paten Itza). There's kayaking, swimming, boat excursions, a beautiful pool, and seriously the best piƱa coladas. We also drove from the hotel to Flores one night and it only took 30 mins as the road is very well maintained. I wish we could have stayed longer.”
This is a very nice, friendly hotel. The interior coutyard and flowers are a pleasant surprise compared with the exterior. Conveniently located the hotel provides a pleasant respite from the rigours of tourism and Tikal visits”
I am a woman travelling solo on my way to the Tikal Ruins and stayed at the Mayaland Plaza hotel. After many hours of travel, I arrived at the hotel, and it was uplifting to discover the open courtyard with its lush colors of the bouganvilla and be greeted warmly. Hotel staff were all very courteous and helpful. I do not speak Spanish and was delighted to have assistance from the hotel in booking transport for early morning the following day to Tikal. The hotel location is only a ten minute walk over the causeway to Flores where there are myriad restaurants, gift shops, hotels etc. I actually enjoyed being a little removed and had great fun riding back and forth in the tuk-tuks which are cheaper than the taxis - I only paid $1-1.50 including a tip which was not expected. A full breakfast was included in my hotel rate which was very reasonable. I enjoyed my airconditioned room and had a small balcony which allowed a breeze to flow in when the aircondition was off. The pool is attractive, but small, and added to the ambience. I have fond memories of the staff and appreciated their enthusiam to ensure comfort. I stayed there again after three days in Tikal and was very content. Please note this is a small hotel, as most hotels are in Flores and this area so one should not expect a Le Meridien or Marriott experience - though one certainly can expect a more personal approach.”
Its about a 4 block walk to the action but every room has a great view of the lake with the volcanoes in the background. The restaurant service is extremely slow by US standards but pretty on par with the Guatemalan pace. Staff was very friendly. The rooms were clean and nice and the pillows were much more comfortable than our prior, hotel!”
I was quite impressed with the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. My room was modest, but clean and comfortable. I took my family for a mini vacation and we were very happy with our choice. Clean, charming, excellent location and friendly staff at an affordable price...we couldn't have asked for more. I highly recommend this hotel.”
This is a really nice hotel. The grounds are beautiful and welcoming. The view outside of the room was spectacular. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Not on the main drag of Santander (Panajachel) which was nice. A problem was that it was noisy the first night. People were slamming their doors constantly and party people were so loud I could hear it in the vent in my bathroom so it was hard to sleep. Only one person spoke any English which is a problem when dealing with a hotel who have a lot of tourists. My recommendation is that some people speak a little English. I did try my Spanish too but it was hard to communicate.”
