Great location and nice room, especially a very comfortable bed. We stayed in a "superior" room, so not sure if the beds are the same in normal rooms. Bathroom is in need of some renovation, clean but not as modern as you would expect when you see the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was a bit challenging - maybe we hit the peak time, but it was a struggle to find a table and the scrambled eggs were only very average.”
Glo Hotel is a nice hotel, overall. I found taxis to be very expensive and it cost us 50 euro one way to/from airport which ended up costing more than the room stay which was a shame, and I do not know how else you would find the hotel. We had to give the taxi drivers the address as there are several Glo hotels and they did not know ours by name. We did 2 overnights there on the way to and from another venue. The hotel is different on the outside with a nice lobby. We were welcomed very differently per visit - the first visit the staff did not give us any information except the room key and the second time a much better welcome (e.g. told about he wifi, given a city map) and there was no written info in the room and limited info on the TV that you could access. Wifi is free (limited) in the rooms and there a computer you can use in the library which is useful. The most annoying thing was the many doors you have to use a key card to get through (approx 6) just to get to our hotel room which was cumbersome with luggage and generally a bit annoying. Otherwise a nice hotel, small rooms overall, good showers, nice restaurant and bar area. Fruit and tea and coffee avaialble for free in the mornings in the lobby too.”
Room was fine good size and with all necessary services for a business hotel and the rate offered. - Service in reception was very good but the cleaning of the room very superficial and just where you could see (just one day one of the girls really clean well without need to tell her) Food was good in the breakfast and very good at the Restaurant. Unfortunately the service in the breakfast was not the best, specially when my husband after had his breakfast tried to bring me a try w/breakfast at our room because l was sick and one of the girls extremely rude told him that l should order room service. When my husband explained at the reception and they said that it was ok, the same girl began to make a scene at the reception and scream at my husband and the girl! Unfortunately after that no matter all the good things of the hotel l doubt he would like to comeback, which is a pity because he will need to go to Helsinki every week for a year.”
Perfectly located next to the airport. Excellent staff attention. Modern, spacious and functional. Very clean and well maintained. Super breakfast buffet. Free wi-fi in reception area. A better link from the airport would be useful as most hotel guests are likely transit passengers with baggage. The short walkway link is partially covered; the [external] lift to the upper level outside the hotel was out of order.”
I booked an executive room (thanks to amazing price from hotels.com) the room was beyond good. The layout was perfect & I couldnt find a single fault. Word of advise, if are going there book the executive room, you wont regret it. Staff was extremely helpful & the breakfast was good. The free shuttle to and from the airport is always handy.”
We arrived very late and left very early. The room was small, average and clean. The bathroom was minuscule, having a shower was uncomfortable. The water was not very hot either. The breakfast buffet was good with lots of choice, local food, american style food and european. Free shuttle to the airport was great.”
Most comfortable nights sleep and so beautiful near the lake, but so close to the local business area. Great breakfast and efficient service. Free wi fi and breakfast - good value for Finland at the price we paid.”
I really liked the GLO Espoo. They also have several other hotels in Helsinki. It is about a 15 minute train ride into Helsinki and the trains can be somewhat sporadic at night, but overall - a good price for a great hotel!”
Good location for trains, though not on the river side. Weird bathroom set up but can't fault cleanliness. Good staff. Disappointing that breakfast wasn't included in the deal like most hotels in Europe.”
As an old resident of one of the villages close to Tampere I new pretty well where to go, but the biggest problem seemed to get driving close enough to the hotel itself, not to talk about any parking. There´s a construction site next to the hotel, at least we arrived on Sat, so we didn´t suffer from any noises of explosions. The people ("service") were REALLY friendly and helpful, did their best to make us feel welcome. It was great! Thank you again. The breakfast was delicious and more than adequate :-) The only critics I have is that the room felt a bit too warm to my taste. We couldn´t find any aircontioner button, and opening the window didn´t help a lot. Thank you, friendly Tampere residents (or the people working at the hotel) for your EXCELLENT job! The hotel surely is in the centre of everything. It´s easy to get either to the railway station or to the other direction, eg. the library that interests many because of its architecture. It´s next to the Tammer rapids, really close to the fabric area, Finlayson. Etc. Etc.”
I stayed in the Hotel Victoria in September 2010, as part of a Reality Therapy Conference. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean, bright, and comfortable. The food we had as part of the conference was excellent! It is close to the station (turn right when you come out of the station, cross the busy road at the lights, and turn right up the hill. The hotel is a few hundred yards on the left). There is a really good cafe with cheap food (not easy to find in Finland!) in the shopping centre across the road - unfortunately, the road is very busy, so you take your life in your hands as you cross! There is also a great Irish pub in Tampere - pass by the front of the train station on the opposite side and keep walking up the hill - the pub is on a corner, I think it is called McCormacks (?) - friendly, laid back, with character and an excellent pint of Guinness!”
