the ritz carlton have really amazing service, everyone was so happy and friendly to help with all our needs. The Hotel condition is really great and well upkept, they were doing renovations and you wouldnt even know, it was kept so quiet. all the watersports included is great, like kayaking and snorkling and many more. pretty fast taxi ride to downtown and all other top tourist spots.”
We loved the pool area and enjoyed the nice private beach. We also liked the company of iguanas and birds in the resort. Our room was spacious with big terrace, clean and comfortable. The dining options are limited though.”
Great location with private beach but there is a upper building and down below there are beach units. Upon checkin one should be given a map of the facility - instead one is dropped off at the lower campus, if that is where your room is, and must wander around trying to find the correct building (we were doing it in the dark!). Service was poor overall but the hotel room was very comfortable and the beach was awesome!”
You can't beat the location (five of the island's most pristine beaches right on your doorstep) and the property does a good job of not over-developing its grounds. Everything seems well-scaled with maximum two-story blocks spread out to give all the guests enough beach space. The staff were professional and discreet and sincerely friendly without being robotic. All the services of a four- or five-star hotel are there if you want them but not in your face. The luxury doesn't have to intrude on your "roughing it" experience. The hotel doesn't seem to infringe on the local wildlife (donkeys and deer and mongoose oh my). Breakfast was nice, and we know it's tough on an island that has to import everything, but it seems like they would have the resources to import more fresh fruit for fresh-squeezed tropical juices and smoothies instead of the pitchers of concentrated stuff. In a dream world, they would have a smoothie bar supplied by an organic garden out back. There are plenty of beach chairs but a few more hammocks would go down nicely (as would replacing some of the broken ones). The biodegradable toiletries are nice, and I think a resort like Caneel could go a step further with cleaning products and laundry services that keep in mind the proximity of the pristine waters.”
First time staying at this hotel and in St. John. Excellent service and support through all phases of our 6 day stay. Room was clean and well appointed. Full kitchen was nice to have. Could not beat the location...5 minute walk to Cruz Bay night life, shopping, etc. Pool is small but nice for a quick cool off. Great snorkeling right in front of the hotel. If you get a room on the ocean side vs. the bay side, then you get the bonus of watching the sunset. Small store in the hotel parking lot was extremely helpful at arranging anything we needed (rental Jeep, snorkeling gear, etc.).”
Everything was absolutely wonderful! The rooms, the food, the extracurricular events (jet ski tours, scuba/snorkeling, island tour, etc.) was spectacular! We will definitely make this a yearly tradition!”
The resort is beautiful and so are the views. There are several private beaches, generally a friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. The morning breakfast buffet, which was included in our rate, was delicious.”
This hotel lives up to its reputation. Not a luxury place - if you want that on St. Croix go to the Renaissance. But you will never find nicer or more accommodating people at any hotel anywhere. We had a room in the second floor which meant we could leave our door open all day and all night to enjoy the breezes and sounds of the sea. Mitch will take you snorkeling right off the beach. He tells you the names of the fish and the coral and will take many pictures of you while out there! Then he put together a DVD with our photos and photos of the fish you saw! We ever saw a hawksbill turtle - rare to see at this site so she was likely heading in to nest. Mitch will also organize a hike and Point Udall is a good option as the beach at the end of the trail is very nice and the water tends to be calmer on that side of the island. Easy to get into Christiansted from here. Highly recommend renting a car. We used Judy of St. Croix to rent our Toyota Yuris. Go - enjoy!”
On the north shore, beautiful beaches and grounds. We visited in Jan., & unfort. the surf on the north shore is rougher than on the west side--so we couldn't swim or snorkel from the shore as we like to do. Food was excellent, as was entertainment at the Fri. nite buffet w/ Moka Jumbies. Very good service and experience at spa. Water in shower was not hot--barely warm. Responsive service staff. Semi-remote, secluded location--would need a car if you want to see other parts of the island.”

The Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Location was good, close to shops and dinning. Room size was good and apart from the fridge door falling off and bed having dirt on it when I arrived the quality was ok! The pool was quite dirty although still nice. Overall thought it was good value for money!”
