The hotel was in a great central location, especially for the vatican. It was also easy and cheap to catch a bus to other locations. The rooms were large and comfortably accommodated 3 adults. The front desk was very helpful and all unstood english. The breakfast service didn't offer too much variety and there were no coffee makers in the roooms. Also, if you are driving, the parking is off site and cost 30 euros a day. It took 35 minutes to get our car after checkout.”
I loved staying at the Altante Star Hotel. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. It was close to the bus line and the Vatican. Everything was easily accessible. The only drawback was that there wasn't any free wi-fi and the mattress was hard as a rock. Other than that, I truly enjoyed my stay and would return without hesitation.”
We found the hotel an excellent base for sightseeing only 2 mins from The Vatican yet quiet at night The Metro is also only mins away. The staff were very helpful and friendly but not intrusive and the maid service was excellent clean towels on a daily basis. We would definitely stay there again and have no hesitation in recommending it.”
Our stay was very pleasant. The staff are very helpful and the hotel is well maintained and in an excellent location. While not really affecting my ratings it would be good to: 1. have a toaster at breakfast 2. fix the internet speeds - very slow internet access 3. internet is expensive (like all hotels really) and was poor value. OK, charge higher amounts for short periods of access, but I would prefer an option to have access for fixed sum for length of stay. Could limit data volumes if needed ... The max. period could sign-up for was 24 hrs. Other hotels I stay at provide 3, 5 and 7 day options.”
The room was not the best I have seen, nor the worst. The bathroom was very small, you could not open the door completely because the toilet was in its way. However, the breakfast was very good, the location perfect and the areas safe. If you go on holidays there I definitely recommend it.”
This hotel is very close to Vatican city (about 2-3 min walking distance) and about 10 min from metro station. Staff was very friendly. Most of all we loved the solarium. It had wireless internet that we can use, relaxed there at night after sightseeing and able to eat there (unlike other hotels where you have to eat inside). For the price we paid, we were very impressed!”
Great location - a few hundred meters (all downhill) from the Vatican Museum,St. Peter's Square, and church. Sometimes I hopped a taxi for 5 - 6 Euros for the long walk up the hill. There is a central bus depot at the bottom of the hill where you can get buses there for all over the city- Bus 81 will give you a wonderfulcity tour. Get a 1- 3 or 7 day bus pass. Also, at the bottom of the street -about 3 blocks away is a Metro stop. Paolo, the owner, was very accomodating. He found me a driver to the airport for 50 Euros (which was 25 less than I paid coming in from the airport). Joanna, the young woman who sets out the breakfast everyday and cleans the rooms, is a gem - sweet, polite, and appreciative of any tip you leave (I ususally give the equivalent of $1 or in this case 1 euro). She would leave me little notes thanking me profusely. Because I was leaving quite a bit earlier than the regular breakfast time she gave me a croissant the day before and a bowl of cereal and a cup of milk. All rooms have a refrigerator so the milk kept well. I also used it to store yogurt and other foods I had bought at a local store. There is a table and chairs in each room for eating. I stayed in 6 hotels or B & B's on my 3 week trip and this was the best.”
Rudi the owner was more than helpful. He met us at the time we requested, and was able to give us many local tips and places to see. Our next stop was Pompei and he gave us detailed instructions of where to go and what to look out for. The fridge and cupboards were stocked and were free for us to use. He gave us his personal mobile number incase we ran into any trouble, or had any questions, and welcomed us to call him later in our trip. The B&B itself was better than described, facilities were brilliant (free flowing showers etc) and very clean. One of the best places we have stayed on our 3 Month eurotrip. Location is great for vatican City, as the B&B is directly across the road from Vatican Museum. highly reccommend staying with Rudi, you will not be disappointed at all”
This was very quaint and convenient - just outside Vatican City and about a 15 minute walk to St. Peter's Square. The owner was very helpful in getting us transportation to and from the airport. He also gave us directions to a couple of nice restaurants and grocery stores. It would have been nice if the grocery stores were closer but not a big deal. My only complaint would be that the internet in the room was not dependable. We could get internet in the courtyard at all times but on rainy days, that was not an option.”
