We were very happy with the service and the character of this hotel. The best part was the price, as we had a bargain in winter! The down side was that, as the internet was only available in the lobby, it was FREEZING cold! Once we worked out ohow to pump up the air con in the room, we were comfortable enough at night.”
This is my third stay at the Carthage Thalasso. They are a great hotel with great customer service. Pricey for simple things like coffee, etc., but worth it for the atmosphere. Beware, when you book a triple (as I always do) they only charge and allocate rooms by the number of people, not the room type requested. So, if you see a difference on hotels.com, go for the cheaper room and request the bigger one when you check in. I, for one, LOVE the bigger room! The swimming pools are fantastic. The indoor slide tends to get frantic with the bigger kids/teenagers horse-playing, but you can manage with smaller ones. All in all, I choose this hotel to escape Tunis when I need a break, and that is exactly what I get when I go: an escape. I often see business groups and never seem to encounter folks complaining at the desk, so I assume it's also a great location for meetings, and business travel. Food is decent if you choose the half/full board, but the restaurant food is likely much tastier.”
this hotel is one of the best I visited in Tunisia. Its not too big, the service is pleasant and the food good.It has a convivial atmosphere and the charm of classy French 'hotellerie'.Ideal for people living in Tunis who are looking for a weekend escapade or for foreign visitors looking for a relaxing and quality stay in Tunisia, not far from Tunis or Sousse.”
We spent a week at Le Sultan in october with our four kids (4, 13, 15 and 15) and their cousins. The hotel is definitely 4 not 5 star, but is very comfortable, in a good location for seeing much of Tunisia and has plenty of activities for those not wanting to venture out - we enjoyed free tennis, the two swimming pools, volleyball, the playground, boules etc. and had our first experience of scuba diving and camel riding. We were able to arrange trips to nearby sites at reception. The kids loved the lads from the animaton team whose 24 hour enthusiasm is infectious......but it's low key and noone is forcing you to do anything! Its not Butlins. The other guests, mainly French but many other nationalities, were pleasant and not wild. The only slight criticisms are the lack of choice for eating in the evening if you are not half board - the buffet is good and not expensiive but is a bit of a scrum and the two nearby independent restaurants were not good. Bring plenty of cash when you go to Tunisia as noone (except the hotel) seems to accept credit cards and the cash machine doesnt want to issue more than NTD200 per day. If you have children of any age and a bit of a sense of adventure you should love Le Sultan and Tunisia.”
Beautiful building and grounds and well laid out. Seemed like nicest hotel in that area.Room v good and lovely bathroom products. But it is an all-inclusive resort (we weren't all-inclusive though) so meals a bit like a bun fight. Good breakfast though again because if the sheer numbers of people waiters sometimes found it difficult to cope so ended up clearing our own tables on a couple of occasions. Outside hotel are a few restaurants but basically on a ring road with no particular charm. Didn't go into sousse proper tho - think its a taxi ride from hotel.”
We stayed in this hotel for 3 days. The staff was extremely friendly, the hotel was clean and very well located. The rooms are large and comfortable and most of them have a great view of the sea. I highly recommend this hotel and will not hesitate to book it again for our next stay in Soussa.”
I stayed at this hotel for 5 days after reading all the wonderful reviews. However, the first two days weren't the best. Our room wasn't cleaned, and the AC wasn't working. We had to complain both days. The good news was, after that, they took really good care of us and we enjoyed the remainder of the stay. One thing about this hotel, the food was amazing! they had a great buffet with loads of variety! i would go back just for the food! and the animation team kept busy all day long! I would recommend this hotel but after i warn ppl that it might not appear like a 4 star hotel at first.”
the hotel was very good and clean, easily accessable to local supermarket, taxi to the town centre is only 4 dinar about £2.00 the staff at the reception are good and friendly some of the reception people are pain in the butt and have no respect for the guest and are rude.”
