If you are fussy about your hotel conditions then this place is not for you. If you want to truly experience the local lifestyle of Barbados - this is the place for you. The scenery is astonishingly beautiful. We would certainly return.”
Great location on the beach. Close to Holetown shopping centre. Excellent beachfront bar and restaurant . Older well used hotel comfortable and bright fresh paintwork. Excellent value and a secret gem.Possibly quiet for teenagers great for couples and young families.”
We enjoyed our stay at the SB, the hotel was clean staff was friendly (Restaurant attached was no so friendly) the pool was great for our 6 year old son and the beach with great waves was just accross the street...A large fastfood restaurant was next door with a huge play indoor play area for kids(Chefette like a McDonalds ) so it's alway busy. It is in a very car busy area but we loved it lots to do. There is a great boardwalk on the beach and it is great for a morning run or late night stroll. The room was clean and had a nice little kitchen. The convience store next door is pricey...I would recommend to go to the large supermarket ask front desk. Easy to get to Bridgetown on the ZR or city bus. We would go back...”
Loved this place. From decor to friendliness to location - all amazing. All the staff were great and very helpful, from the servers, cleaners, bartenders and front-desk staff. Food was great (would have liked to see some Bajan options though - I understand they're catering to a mostly foreign tourist base, but Bajan cuisine would have been a nice option; and the option for Mackeson stout - something I was introduced to out of the hotel which I loved - a milk stout). Location is nice and close to a beach that was not busy at all, very safe and clean, and there's a food vendor in the parking lot beside it that sold the best fish sandwiches - a must try. The room was very clean and was a good balance of contemporary design/furnishing and original architecture from when it was a rum depot. I would highly recommend this place if you need a quaint, friendly and central place to stay in Bridgetown.”
We booked the Executive Floor for myself and family. It was not spacious enough for us, so we upgraded to a One bedroom King Bed Suite. All the conditions were excellent, good quality of service, great swimming, convenient dining and helpful staff. The A/C was too cold during rain, but was rectified after complaints. I would rebook this Suite again.”
We had to stay in Barbados for two nights on the way back to NA from another island. Sweetfield was a good choice. It is a beautiful and lovingly restored old plantation manor with big rooms and beautiful period furnishings. Sweetfield is a quality B&B with an owner, Captain George, who is welcoming and willing to be your concierge helping you with sightseeing, dining and transportation needs. Sweetfield is located on the edge of Bridgetown and is about a mile from the sea and quite a nice beach. But the immediate neighbourhood is not particularly nice. Guests will generally have a rented car or leave by organized taxi. The grounds and view of the ocean and sunset are lovely with a particularly nice natural style swimming pool with a waterfall and jacuzzi, a great place to enjoy an afternoon or morning. This place has character and personality not available in a hotel, and it evokes a period of Caribbean history that is long gone.”

The hotel is nicely laid out with plenty of open space. It is well looked after and very clean throughout. There is plenty of wildlife right outside your front door. We had Humming Birds within a few feet, other birds constantly popping on to the patio looking for food (we even caught 2 in the kitchen). There was a giant African Snail (about 4 inches) which may be a pest but still quite beautiful for us to see and a monkey that walked straight past us, within a couple of feet! The pool is a good size and the restaurant serves good, reasonably priced food although the service was a little slow, even by Bajan standards, due to a lack of staff. That said, the staff that were there were all very friendly, polite and helpful, with a special mention for the reception staff who provided service of the very highest standard. The bungalows are spacious and well equipped and, whilst a little dated, provided a relaxing and comfortable stay. The hotel is a little distance from Holetown (a good 15 minutes walk) and, due to what appears to be a temporary closure of the nearest access, the beach is also a fair walk (12-15 minutes). Overall, we had a lovely time and would definitely book again.”
Overall, a very good experience. Food was excellent. Bed was very comfy. Beach/ocean view was nice to have. My particular room did not have a balcony (which I was expecting). Resort staff were very good. Friendly, helpful. Would recommend staying here to others.”
The Crane is a fantastic choice for couples wanting a romantic break. Unlike most of the hotels on the island it is nice and isolated which is great if you want to relax. This does however mean you will need to get taxis/shuttles to Bridgetown but most activities included free transport which helps. The beach is fantastic and very clean; we spent the next week in Miami and it is so much better than South Beach (cleaner, less kelp/seaweed and much nicer sand). I have seen quite a few complaints about the air conditioning but our room was fine (we kept the doors shut and the fan on when we were sleeping/out). The food at all the restaurants is good but I would recommend eating at Zen which was great. Overall this is a great hotel and quite different to the others, we had a fantastic honeymoon and would recommend it to others.”
I was nervous about staying somewhere so "affordable." It turned out to be perfect. Quiet, discreet, close to public transportation and a couple grocery stores. We walked over to the ocean (it wasnt a beach as we were high up on the cliffs, but it is always great being on the coast). The staff was great. Breakfast our first morning was absolutely delicious. It was just perfect for our needs.”
