My stay was great. Check-in and check-out was quick and friendly. The room was clean and had all I needed. A desk to work at, an arm chair with a hassock and cold a/c. The only thing I would suggest would be blinds in which you can darken the room and it had no bathtub, only a large shower stall. The wi-fi was extremely non-existent during the evening and late night hours, however I wasn't sure if that was due to hotel traffic or just regular island traffic. And the elevator was a little funky, once you got inside and pressed your floor sometimes it wouldn't go anywhere. You had to open the doors again and then press your floor. It's also in a decent spot. You can walk the length of Ashford Avenue with restaurants and bars or take a taxi for a quick ride to Old San Juan for roughly $15. TIP: the bar in the restaurant makes wonderful mojitos.”
This is one of the best resort facilities I have ever stayed at...it was inclusive and easy to stay at..the facilities, staff, beach, restaurants were amazing! I went by myself for some R&R but plan to bring my family back for the next visit.”
We realy enjoyed our stay. |The hotel has a great location with Live music and dancing at the weekend and lots of nice places to eat nearby. Great roof top pool. Tip.... take the 21 bus just 20 metres to the left outside the hotel for San Juan (have 75c in coins each way .. oap's 35c!!!).”

This was a great hotel to stay at for the few days after our cruise ended. It had the space, a nice deep bath tub and separate shower, stackable laundry in cupboard and a functional kitchen. Fridge/freezer didn't work too good and dryer took forever to dry our clothes. The Pool and adjoining beach/ocean made for a very nice stay. It is out of the way and you definately need a car but for the price it was the perfect option for us.”

We stayed (5 in room) for one night prior to a cruise. The front desk was extremely helpful and curtious as were the cleaning personnel. The room was clean but the sofa bed was horrible! The main beds were good. The contenental breakfast was wonderful. The pool area and bar were very nice - pool not heated. Situated 2.5 blocks from beach with restaurants and a grocery store near by.”
I was very impressed with this beautiful hotel. It is conveniently located close to the main airport, but then only a short walking distance to the beach and a large number of restaurants. The staff was also very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. There also was a nice and clean pool/hottub/bar area, free internet and the hot breakfast was a very pleasant surprise. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!”
Hotel was just as described on their website. We did the Red level service and found the extra full buffet breakfast, private pool with 'beds' for free, private lounge with service, and cocktail hour along with convenient room location made the extra price really worth it. The Yunque Forest is close by and well worth the trip if you want a good hike and fun waterfall swim. The only thing we would change is more food options on site.”
The Rio Mar is a beautiful hotel, Its clean , safe, there are lots of resturants in the hotel and also a casino, The only thing i didnt like about the hotel was that it was very far from Old San Juan, cabbing it from the hotel to told san juan was $68 one way, I also found that the emplyees werent as helpful, they try and get you to do everything in the hotel , which is really expensive, we orded in one night and it cost us $60 for 3 burgers which wasnt the greatest. If u want to see san juan and save money, Dont stay here, if u want to relax and have lots of money to spend, than yes its the place to be .”
My wife and I stayed for five nights without any significant issues. The location is great for getting to El Yunque, San Juan , Fajardo and the popular roadside dining kiosks. The king beach front room was very large with an 8'x8' rain shower and a walk in closet. Bed was very comfortable and all service folks were excellent. The concierges made really helpful suggestions about restaurants in old San Juan and arranged a trip to Vieques' bioluminescent bay. The on-site marine biologist led us on a kayak tour which was free and educational. Mandatory valet parking at $22/day seemed excessive given the overall security and remote location. The beach was well kept although the Atlantic frontage made swimming dangerous so I used the beautiful pool. Fern and Seagrapes had well-prepared food. The portions were so large at Seagrapes that we just split single lunch entrees which brought the prices into a reasonable range. Overall this was one of the nicest places we've ever stayed and would consider it again when on the NE coast of PR.”
