The beds were super comfortable. The location is on a hill and its a decent trek from the nearest metro station. There is not much around the hotel. The mini bar in the room is outrageously expensive. 7.9 euro for a coke? 4.9 for a bottle of water? I just walked down to the corner store and even the metro station where the drinks from the vending machine were 1 euro.”
The reception area and general areas of the hotel were very modern but the bedrooms, while being comfortable we a bit dated. We had breakfast brought to the room, which was sufficent and the staff were very nice.”
We had a great time in Lisbon and thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel however our room was facing the main street and we had two bad nights sleep due to the loud noise from the bands which were playing on the street below.”
We enjoyed our stay for three nights at the Hilton, they were the most courteous staff I have come across, especially Hugo at reception! The rooms were fabulous and the hotel and surrounding pools are first class. The Spa is a very relaxing and definitely worth a treatment..I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone for a short break or otherwise.”
Beautiful hotel, very comfortable rooms. If you want a relaxing holiday this is the place to go.The Spa looked amazing but was very expensive. We didn't have a car and managed to get around using the hotel shuttle and taxis”
The hotel is fantastic, the staff are lovely and the location is the best. The one thing is that the meals and drinks are pricey, however, they're pricey anywhere you go. We went to a lovely place at the end of the Marina, a Spanish restaurant called Don Toro, the food and price were perfect.”
Very near all the main sights, funicular at Batalha down to Ribeira is only around the corner. Location looked a little dodgy when checking in with people hanging around the hotel but it was actually ok, we got taxis back at night which are only €3-4 from ribeira or the galeria de paris bar area. We didn't have breakfast but there are plenty of coffee shops on the square and the next street. Very reasonable price, would stay here again.”
This hotel was really remarkable especially given the price you pay. The staff were always helpful and friendly and the rooms were incredible and kept to a extremely high standard. The high point of the hotel had to be the spa. The cost of access to the spa and pool may be off putting for some people but it was only ten Euros and for the facilities including different treatment rooms that are available it is more than worth it.”
This did exactly what it said on the label! The staff were so helpful and the the hotel was very clean. The bedroom was not enormous, but had everything that we needed for our stay and the bed was comfortable. There was a good choice at the self service breakfast. We could walk to many of the sights that we wanted to see and the metro was a short walk away if we wanted to venture further afield. We would definitely use this hotel if we return to Porto.”
The CS Madeira was exactly what we were looking for in Funchal - Walking distance to center town, but far enough to be quite and calm. Modern new hotel, with fantastic swimming pool facilities and access to the ocean (if you don't mind the cold atlantic waters...). Most of the rooms with full front view of the Ocean, which was fabulous, and are well equipted. Free underground parking was a nice bonus when renting a car (recommended if planning to travel around the island). Breakfast buffet was good. All in all, we were highly satisfied and would recomment this hotel. PS - compared to its neighbours, it is not a bad value for money either. One more point to the list of +...”
I thought it was a great position and all the staff were really friendly.”
I have stayed at this hotel 5 times in the last 12 years and have enjoyed the experience each time. Caution to all readers, avoid using the hotel phone at all costs!!! I made 5 phone local phone calls each with a duration of 3 minutes or less and the bill was 55 euros!!! Even the hotel staff couldn't explain why. I am in the process of writing to the Pestana Hotel administrative folks to inquire.”
