Shangri-la Resort is of three hotels, Al-Waha, Al-Bandar and Al-Hosn, located away from the city, good for relaxation. We are couple travelling with 13 years son stayed three days in Al-Waha hotel, meant for families. We have enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is amazing with its service, amenities, location and standard. Very well maintained hotel, garden, sea beach, kids playground. The room was quite nice, clean, with balcony view to the swimming pool and sea. Free Wi-fi with good transmission everywhere in the hotel and around. The food was good and of variety of choices. The breakfast was great for all tastes and we had a buffet dinner at Al-Tanoor restaurant in Al-Bander, excellent food. I defiantly will stay in this hotel again if visited Oman again, it is recommended.”
The service was fantastic. Checking in was a breeze - no standing around at counters - I was whisked into the comfortable couches in the lobby and greeted with a cool face towel and drink and the staff just brought everything to me. The room was very comfortable with all the modern appliances - nespresso machine, ipod docker etc. Breakfast was amazing! The pools were stunning! Everything just classy. The gym had some of the best equipment I've used (and stocked with apples, refreshments, earphones). We didn't eat at the restaurant for dinner as prices were a little expensive and we wanted to investigate town.”
The location was good, short distance to beach, outdoor cafe, cinema etc. Is not a downtown lively area, rather located in quiet "suburb". At this trip I spent most of the time in the Mutrah area with the souk, the cornice, fishmarked etc, and Ramada was like 15 minutes taxi ride and 7 Oman Riyals from hotel. Overall impression of hotel is very good, thanks a lot for nice stay at the hotel.”
Overall rating is very very satisfactory. The only thing that bothered me is the wireless connection was very bad and according to the staff they are working on complete network upgrade at the time of our stay and the situation was temporary.”
The stay was great! The hotel and amanities were very nice and the breakfast buffet delicious! the taxi service from the hotel should be closer viewed by the hotel. Considering that it is a 5* Hotel they should not allow dirty taxis pick up guests. Also guests should be informed about the taxi rates. Service at check-in and check-out was very good as well as in the restaurant and pool area. the proximity to the port does not offer the nicest view but is also not disturbing. rooms close to the elevators are not so convinient due to the music and the noise of elevator. but as the rooms are quite big it's ok.”
hotel is a distance from anything else, save a decent thai restaurant. u will need a car or taxi to do most anything. rooms are nice. be sure to get the king or 2 twins as u need them staff is clueless in this regard. breakfast is great. try to figure out hoe to get the internet comped, else so expensive. that said, salalah is good for 2-3 days. oman is really a great place.”
The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere in Suhar,Oman. You have to have a car/taxi. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a problem with our room, and they fixed it in no time. They talk to their guests, and that feels good. Pool area was gorgeus.”
