This hotel is in a great location to sighsee around Auckland. Only a block from the Auckland tower, and within walking distance of all downtown area. We enjoyed the hotel but didn't get the room we booked with a deluxe king bed. First, they put us in the new part of the hotel which was very nice but in a double bed of which we have not slept in for 25 years. They did move us to a room with 2 queen beds but not a king room. This room was in the older tower section but much more roomy.”
Studio rooms are fully equipped - dishwasher, laundry, microwave oven, and hot plates. Which is great b/c food is expensive in Auckland and you can get food at a nearby supermarket. Only complaints: the staff were unhelpful with a confusing voicemail system, and I got one message days late, as I was checking out! Some of the staff seemed clueless, others quite helpful and knowledgeable.”
The hotel itself was ok but it took 25 minutes to check in. I had to sit down and wait for ages while the woman at reception checked with her manager, if it was ok to give me my (as requested/booked through hotels.com) requested room type. This has happened to me before with this chain.”
A clean, good hotel in the center. Nothing special about it, as many IBIS hotels it is quite unpersonal. But still a very good hotel nothing.Simple, clean, good rooms.everything you expect from a hotel,”
Great location, great staff, great breakfast, comfortable bed, good shower. Only issue for us was no airconditioning and no flyscreen on windows so we slept with the window shut in stale air. Every city site is in easy walking distance, four blocks to the container mall, three blocks to punitng on the Avon, half a block to the park etc. I would stay again, but with insect repellant sprayed on befere going to sleep.”
This was a convienient apartment for our stay in Auckland, close to concert venue. We used the underground car parking for the apartment, which was reasonably priced at $20. The apartment was quite compact, but had everything we required. There was some noisy air conditioning units outside which meant the window couldn't be left open at night. Overall, good value for Auckland city accomodation. .”
Lovely hotel in a great central location, suitable for singels/family etc, very helpful and friendly staff. comfortable rooms Wide selection of good quality food on offer. Would definately revisit/reccommend to others”
Coach drop off outside the Hotel. Quick and easy bookin. Very large two queen sized bedroom with luggage bench. Clean nd very comfortable. Good on suite BATHroom with shower etc. Balcony with views overlooking the lake. Quiet at night. With in 10 minute walk of restaurants and buzz on waterfront. Fun bar on the sixth floor. Onsite booking with choice for day trip activities. EXPENSIVE wifi but reasonable priced coin operated internet access on the groundfloor. A excellent location and hotel to stay in.”
We were unhappy with two aspects of the food service...room service dinner was below standard, our complaint was responded too in satisfactory manner. Food/bar service staff were inattentive and chose to continue talking among themselves rahter than serve customers....we were not the only people waiting.”
At first I wasn't thrilled because the lady checking me in didn't acknowledge me, but once I got settled I really liked the room. It had dishes and cutlery so I could make minor meals, a nice bathroom, big bed, desk by the window with a view and satellite tv. The rest of the people working there were helpful in finding me the buses to interislander ferry and the cable car to botanical gardens. Location is quite centralized near lots of shops, places to eat, and sights. Although my stay got off to a rocky start, I would definitely stay here again as it was very comfortable and quiet. This is the reason I splurge on hotels and avoid hostels.”
Stayed in the IBIS Wellington for two nights in June on a whirlwind trip of New Zealand. Arrived down on Overlander train from Auckland and hotel just a 5minute walk from train station and despite its closeness never heard a train once I was inside. Centrally located close to Te Papa Museum, which weather dependent (it rains a lot!) is a lovely walk along bay from hotel. Close to main shopping area which is always a plus in my book. Had a twin room and granted was a bit on small side but as city room this was to be expected. Very powerful shower. Good choice of channels on TV. Nice breakfast with option of make your own waffles! (compulsory after spending previous night out in Wellingtons hot spots!”
Great location, clean, friendly staff but we had a room facing the street and it was noisy all night. We would have wanted the window open as it was pretty hot but couldn't stand the noise. Freeway is right in front. Take your ear plugs or ask for a room in the back.”
