Hotel Avenida is a nice and clean hotel. I stayed there for a week on a business trip and it had all the amenities and comfort I needed. It is quite expensive, but it is a good hotel. The complimentary breakfast is excellent. I would recommend it to others. The only negative thing is that there is no easy parking around the hotel, so if someone is picking you up at the hotel they have to cruise around for a bit and park in one of the streets close by the hotel.”
Only stayed one evening, we were 2 and checked in at around midnight, it was quick. I parked my car full with camping gear in the parking lot with an all night guard on watch. The room is small with a nice view of a city frozen in time. The air-conditioner worked well. Room service runs all night and is timely. Breakfast was average but if you've been to Maputo before you'd understand why. You can expect all your regular buffet options. Checkout was also fast and we were on the road in no time. All in all a pleasant experience.”
I got a great price for a fantastic hotel! I stayed at a few other top-end hotels in Maputo and the Polana Serena was definitely the best. Also, I happened to have a flight scheduled for September 1, 2010, when there were food riots... and the hotel handled that delicate situation with grace. A great stay, book it if you can.”
This is a fabulous hotel for an island getaway. Brilliant staff (except on accounts desk who need some better people skills) and beautiful accommodation in individual chalets superbly designed. The all-inclusive food could not be faulted. Do arrange to fly to island. Views worth the price! Points to watch out for: trips to the best snorkelling beaches are charged for and are expensive, and soft drinks also are charged for. Big plus: do have a spa treatment - really excellent hot stone massage.”
