El Farouk is located near centre and on the river - good views; although the Lobby and bar area are very much 5 star the hotel corridors and rooms were much more basic. At the time we were there the De Lux rooms were all undergoing renovations and not available although that was the accommodation we had paid for. After three hours of dealing with front desk staff we were able to see the Manager who wanted to put us in a corner suite; however we were settled into a standard room and did not take the offer.”
