The Maldives is a magic place, Lux Maldives is a larger island but with very good facilities and is well-run. We had beach villas which were great, room cleaning, re-stocking etc was really responsive. Even though resort wasn't full our week, the very expensive restaurants were often spoiled by toddlers running around and shouting, ignored by their parents. Apparently when it's full, this problem gets worse. It's a function of the resort size and the usual politeness of the other guests and staff not to complain. Food however was very good, only flaw in the week was the pesto pasta which was made largely with parsley and little sign of the key ingredient, basil. Best food was Japanese - truly excellent. Take a big wallet with you though, we spent $3,700 in extras for just 3 people in one week!”
We had a great stay at Kurumba. Can recommend to book a beach bungalow. From here you have easy access to the house reef, which is in a good state - especially if you cross the break waters, but take note of the strong currents. When we initially came across Kurumba during our vacation planning on the internet, we did have our concerns about the resort's close location to Malé and the airport island. However, we did not find the few airplanes disturbing at all, but then again we new that Kurumba was not a remote robinson cruse island. We decided not to go for the all inclusive dining package, but had breakfast included in our accomodation booking. The breakfast buffet was great! Varied, with wonderful omlet, danish pastry and hold on.....the best congee and mango lassi, ever!! Many thanks to Le Chef and keep up the good work ;-) During our 5 day stay we tried different dining options, including the Ocean Restaurant. All gave us good dining experiences, but be prepared to spend a few extra bucks when travelling to the Maldives...it's not cheap! The resort also offered complementary internet access and had a lot of sports facilities and activities - for our kids, the kids club was a great break and offered hours of fun. We can definitely recommend a stay at Kurumba!”
Our stay at W Retreats and Spa is a memorable one. Starting from the Ocean Lagoon room size and design to the expansive view of the ocean from our room is awesome. Friendly staff and services adds up to the luxury of stay at W Retreats.”
Very nice place with excellent staff. I went for a short business trip to Male the Traders hotel provided decent food options and extremely good service. Would definitely go back for any future work trips to the city.”
This is an excellent choice as transit hotel if you are arriving late in Male before transferring to resort island. Airport transfers are provided both ways, and the staff liaised well with the island resort to ensure a seamless experience fo its guests. Excellent service, clean and comfortable room.”
This is the only hotel in Male you do not need to get a boat to. It is very convenient from that aspect. In addition the hotel iteslf is very nice and the breakfast had a huge variety set overlooking the water. The bar was also a welcome relief as we landed at night! Overall a very good hotel that I would recommend to anyone in transit to and from a Maldives resort.”
