This is the third time my wife and I have visited Seoul in the last 7 years. We usually opt to stay in the City Hall area. I'm so glad we decided to give Lotte City Hotel in Mapo a try. With 2 subway lines, a grocery plenty of restaurants in the basement and surrounding neighborhood, and an airport bus stop right on the front steps, one really can't get more convenient than that! The rooms are very comfortable (beds are softer than what one finds in Asia-- perfect for us!). The bathroom is the best- nice tub and shower set up (much appreciated if you're visiting in winter). All of this AND a very professional staff-- can't ask for more. We liked this hotel so much, we've actually cancelled another reservation we made for the end of our NE Asian trip the first week of January and rebooked with Lotte City Hotel.”
It would have been better if hotels.com had given me the correct telephone number for this property, also it might be a good idea if you gave the property address printed in korean as taxi drivers simply cannot make use of ones printed in English ( hence the need for tel. no.), this applies to all properties in Korea.”
This is a top class hotel, right in the centre of town and in the middle of the Myeong-dong market area. The street stalls are on every night and it's a fascinating way to spend a very cheap night out with the added benefit of souvenirs if you like. The hotel has a Concierge desk from which you can book various escorted tours, all of which collect you from the hotel and most (but not all) return you to the hotel. The people staffing the Concierge desk are a credit to the hotel. They are unfailingly polite and go out of their way to help you with any problem (including tracking down a bag accidentally left on an airport transfer bus operated by a rival company). There are three lifts servicing the 21 floors. These are fairly efficient but seem to follow an erratic pattern - lifts will frequently bypass the floor you are on and will often stop at other floors for passengers travelling in the opposite direction. Fortunately the Koreans have a good sense of humour about this and it's an excellent way to meet people. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed with double glazed windows which do an excellent job of shutting out the street noise and even the Sunday morning bells from the Cathedral just across the road. About the only down side is the shower-in-the-bath. This may be convenient for the hotel but when you're pushing 70 it's not the easiest thing to get in and out of. This was our third stay in this hotel and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. On a minor point, our previous stays there were on an airline-provided stopover. We travelled Business Class and the general quality of the rooms were superior to the quality of the room on this booking, which made us think that the hotel and the airline we travelled on (Asiana) having either some common ownership or a "special deal" arrangement.”
This hotel was very pleasant with a nice view and convenient for Incheon airport as I stayed one night before flying out. The hotel is very clean with a really nice fitness centre, pool and spa for relaxation.”
I stayed here overnight before flying out of Korea. This is not a high end business hotel but is pretty much what I would expect from a Ramada in North America. I thought it was a very good value for the price I paid. It is located in a nice low density Korean neighborhood. There was a couple of Korean restaurants I wanted to eat at. There also seems to be a surprising number of Japanese restaurants recommended by the hotel all within a few blocks. I was on an executive floor. I had free wired internet access, a small flat panel TV. I found the bathroom and tub small and cramped. I did have the breakfast buffet. It had been picked over by a group filling four tour buses. I don't feel that there was much effort to restock buffet nor did I receive any attention from the restaurant staff. The Restaurant does have a nice view. The front desk staff were pleasant during check in and check out I don't speak Korean and their English was sufficient. They were helpful when I asked for the location of a shopping center (E Mart). The hotel is isolated from the subway or tourist attractions. I had a car so this was not an issue for me. A taxi to the closest subway station wouldn't cost very much. If I had gone into Seoul I would have taken the taxi/subway option rather than trying to drive. I would happily stay there again if I needed an airport hotel.”
Typically I avoid having to stay at Best Western while traveling in the USA based on few unpleasant experiences at rundown facilities. However, “Premier” Songdo Park Hotel surpassed my expectation for a Best Western franchise. The hotel was well maintained and service of staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The room was clean well equipped with all basic amenities one would expect from a business hotel. The best part I thought was fast and free internet service. The location of hotel was a bit remote and away from restaurants and shops, but this would not stop me from staying here again in future.”
My wife and I stayed in the Novotel Hotel for a two-day stay in Busan. The hotel was clean, comfortable and situated in a great location. The staff was friendly and helpful such as giving us directions to eating places, transformers for our 110V systems. One additional point: even taxi drivers who understand little English understood Novotek,”
The Hotel was absolutely beautiful. great location. Right on the beach.. Food places were in walking distance and so was the aquarium. One thing that I did not like was my husband and i ordered an in room massage and during our massage one of there cellphones rang. The gentleman stopped massaging my husband to answer his phone and then stood up and went to our room phone and made a phone call. I thought that was very unprofessional and tacky. There were a couple of other things that I did not like, we ordered room service the next morning and our eggs were extrememly cold. I started to send then back but was to hungry to send then back and wait for a replacement. Not to mention there was the language barrier of trying to get them to understand what the problem was. Lastly at 1155 or 1157 the telephone rang and it was the front desk telling us it was time to checkout. We were on our way out of the room at that time and stopped to answer the phone. My husband tried to tell them that we were on our way out of the room and they continued to say checkout 12. Checkout 12. I have to say to us those were minor things but the hotel overall was a great hotel and I would definitely recommend it to a friend and have plans of returning in the summer. Hotel also had a hot tub outside however it was under maintenance until feb 2012. Therefore we couldn't enjoy that service.”
I was in Busan for a conference at BexCo but wanted to stay at Haeundae. The price of this hotel was much less than the nearby top hotels. However it is very well located. You just need to cross the road and you are on the beach. There is a wide range of restaurants and some bars nearby. A taxi to BexCo was ~3500 Won. It's about five minutes walk from the Metro. The room was large, well equipped, clean and had a great view out to the beach. The staff (front desk and housekeeping) were very friendly. The only slight downsides were the WiFi performance and some quirky technical details about the fitout - the buttons that summon the two lifts are not linked, there was no bedside control for the room lights (I think my room was missing a remote control) and occasionally the fridge switching off would trigger the motion activated light in the entranceway. The WiFi was acceptable most of the time. It seemed to run in a very bursty manner, but would usually sustain download speeds adequate for Skype. It crashed entirely one evening. However, this was not a huge issue since free WiFi is nearly ubiquitous. When it went down, I went to the beach and used the free connection there. There is only one reason why I would consider booking one of the bigger hotels, and that is if you need to impress Korean business colleagues (however, you can always arrange to meet them in the lobby of the Novotel over the road!). Great hotel in a fantastic location.”
I EXPECTED THE ROOMS TOBE MUCH MORE NICER. FOR THE PRICE, IT WAS NOT WORTH IT. I FELT LIKE I WAS IN A MOTEL WITH THE PLANATION SHUTTER INSTEAD OF CURTAINS. THE ROOMS NEEDS TOBE UPDATED. THE FURNITURES DOES OT MATCH THE DECOR. AGAIN, I WAS TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED FOR THE PRICE I PAID.”
Staff - good service, friendly, always ready to serve Mini bar - expensive Internet - expensive Cleanliness - 5 star Airport limousine brings you straight to the hotel from Jeju Airport. There is a mini market (7-eleven) in the area, some restaurants. Dunkin donuts which is near the 7-eleven has free wifi. We arrived at the hotel and was supposed to checkin to the room with the hill view. The room is in the main complex, but during this period they are renovating and there are sounds of drills all over. We requested to change the room and they kindly upgraded to a sea-view room. I guess this is what 5-star service is all about.”
I stayed in 3 different hotels in my 4 days trip in Jeju, and I would like to say Haevichi Hotel Jeju is the best stay among the 3 hotels. I booked the deluxe ocean view and there is a balcony where you can sit outside the hotel room and have a beer and nice chat with your partner overseeing the pacific ocean. We did not find the chance to try out the restaurants but there are some really nice restaurant inside the hotel which worth a try. One good thing is that there is wifi inside of the room, the other 2 hotels does not provide internet access inside of the room so this adds extra bonus to this hotel. The hotel is just 5 mins drive from Sunrise peak so it is a good place to stay and go for sunrise the next day.”
