Small but stylish hotel on a quiet street in a top neighbourhood. The room was modern and spacious. The staff were very helpful and reception staff spoke english. The only thing that I would recommend would be double -glazing for the rooms on the street front, as there was some traffic noise from the nighbouring streets, but even that was not bad by BA standards.”
My first room had not been cleaned well and the coffee service was dirty and missing the coffee. It was also on the side of the hotel where there is a night club across the walk way that has very loud music from mid-night to dawn. I asked for a room change. The new room was perfect, clean, not noisy and very comfortable...what I expected from the Hilton.”
The hotel is only 15 minuets from downtown via the subway located 3 blocks away. Banks and excellent restaurants are within 5 blocks. Staff and the owner are fluent in English and are very helpful and considerate. Because there are 3 large schools nearby the evenings are peaceful with little traffic. Overall a very nice place to stay.”
What a wonderful place to spend a few days on the edge of the forest with great pools and walks around the hotel and down to the river! We stayed for a few nights at the hotel and arrived after an electrical storm which had broken the hotels room card entry system so they could not issue us with a room card; this however we not a problem. The staff are fantastic, all speak english and all are so helpful. Every time we wanted access to our room a member of staff came straight over with a key to let us in. This is a minor irritation but could not be helped. The room was great, we had a balcony suite with hammock and loved just releasing and looking into the forest, the room was very comfy and well laid out. The hotel is remote but the centre of town is very touristy so your not missing much and its work staying here fore the awesome location, its what makes the stay so special. The hotel organises taxis for you which are convenient, quick and cheap. My only irritation was that the sauna and steam rooms are part of the Spa which you need to pay for, and I felt this was a bit of a cheek and not what I expect from a premium hotel. Despite that minor quip, I would very much stay again.”
While the front deck staff tried to be helpful, we had language difficulties, and I speak a little Spanish. You need to be a visa from Brazil to see that side of the falls. No one could help us with this at the hotel. We found a remiss driver, Ariel, who proved to be invaluable. The hotel sits about midway between the Argentine side and the Brazilian side of the falls. You must see both!!! I would probably stay in the town of Puerto Iguazu next time just to have access to diverse dining since we had no car.”
very enjoyable stay. A great chance to rest and enjoy the facilities after visiting the falls. I would stay here again easily.”
Staff very friendly, especially Alberto and Alejandro. Overall, hotel was much better than I would have ever thought. About a 10 to 15 min walk to Av Villanueva Arístides, where the nightlife is. Definitely recommend going there one night if you can. Remember that most in Argentina dont go out to eat till around 9 pm, Mendoza seems to be even later. Also about a 15 to 20 min walk to Plaza Independencia. So if you dont like to walk much, this is not the place for you. Definitely due a tour to Valle de Uco, and go to bodegas Salentine, Andeluna and Azul.”
The hotel was clean, quiet, and practical with very nicely appointed common areas and a good breakfast (until 11 am on weekends). On site parking was free and secure, and it was quick to get the car in and out. Rooms are a bit smaller than one might expect for a hotel of its category, but still comfortable and ours had a nice view. The one really frustrating thing was the common computer and internet access to which we had expected to have access -- only 4 computers for over 100 rooms, and not one of them was working properly. Hotel staff were very nice and helpful though in trying to resolve the problem.”
location a bit fat from the city center but have shuttles during evening. beautiful view from the room. carpet in the room a little old and a lot of stains- other than that the room is clean and good value for the money!”
We loved staying at the Alto Calafate. Although it is a bit out of town, they run a convenient shuttle service so it's not too much of a problem and a cab is only about 20pesos. The views are to die for! And the restaurant in the hotel served us an amazing meal, one of the best ribeye steaks I've ever had. I'd definitely recommend the Alto Calafate. Only small negative is that some of the staff are not so good with tourist information. But they are super-helpful!”
We stayed here in a standard room. The place had a really impressive design. The reception, spa, bar, and rooms had surprises everywhere. This is the place to stay in El Calafate. The only downside was the location, but you get the "tax return" by the view from your windows. We looked at the suites before leaving and we were very impressed by their size and in-room jaccuzzi. So it you have a few dimes more - try them out. Tip: The bar tender is very skilled!”
