Stanley Hotel- Estes Park, CO

The Stanley Hotel was built in 1909 by F.O. Stanley and his wife, Flora. Over the years, the hotel has hosted films and even Stephen King as he wrote parts of "The Shining" in room 217. Strange happenings over the years include the piano playing by itself in the music room, Mrs. Stanley's favorite room, or the sound of children in the halls, when there isn't a child in the building.

Heathman Hotel- Portland, OR

You may not be the only "guest" in your room at Heathman Hotel if you check into any of the rooms ending in "03". Paranormal activity has been reported so many times that it can't be a coincidence. Even though doors are locked, guests report that upon returning to their room, water glasses are out, towels are used, chairs are moved and the electronic key record indicates that no one has been in the room.

Green Mountain Inn- Stowe, VT

Born in room 302 at Green Mountain Inn in 1840, Boots Berry went on to become a local hero who was later outcast by the town and jailed. He learned to tap dance in prison, and when he was released, he returned to his hometown of Stowe, Vt. One stormy night in 1902, he rescued a child from the hotel roof but slipped to an icy death. Guests today say they can still hear the sounds of tap dancing on stormy nights from room 302.

Menger Hotel - San Antonio, TX

Unexplained occurrences have been reported at the historic Menger Hotel, from heavy footsteps heard in empty rooms to a deliciously spooky ghostly encounter by the kitchen crew. The hotel is located adjacent to The Alamo, leading staff to believe that the paranormal activity might involve a soldier returning to The Alamo.

Le Pavillon Hotel - New Orleans, LA

Built in 1907, Le Pavillon stands on the site of a theater that mysteriously burned down in 1889. Several apparitions have been spotted throughout the years in the restaurant, on the third floor and in suite 930. The entities are believed to be mischievous but not malevolent. One walks throughout the building, playing pranks on the cleaning crew.

Boston Omni Parker House Hotel - Boston, MA

A number of ghosts are suspected to haunt the third floor of the Omni Parker House, an 1855 historic hotel located along Boston's Freedom Trail. Both a 19th century stage actress and a business man have died in their rooms there, and have since become a nuisance to guests. It has even been reported that the hotel's founder, Harvey Parker, often appears in guests rooms inquiring about their stay.

Queen Mary Hotel - Long Beach, CA

The restless souls of former crew members and passengers who may have met an untimely death while sailing aboard the Queen Mary, are said to haunt the historic 1936 ocean liner's halls every day. During the ship's more than 70-year history, there have been approximately 50 reported deaths, and speculation surrounds those unreported which could have occurred during WWII when the ship transported prisoners of war.

Built in 1886, The Driskill Hotel is consistently rated among the top haunted hotels in the United States. The hotel's ghosts include a former Senator's daughter who fell to her death chasing a ball on the grand staircase and a Houston bride who died mysteriously in her hotel room. Today guests report the sound of child's laughter and a bouncing ball in the hallways and along the stairs, and several have reported seeing the bride wandering the halls of the fourth floor's historic wing with shopping bags in her hands.

1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa - Eureka Springs, AR

Completed in 1886 the Crescent Hotel has served as a college, hospital and hotel over the years. Unexplainable visions of students, patients and nurses, odd noises and strange occurrences in guest rooms, the lobby and the dining room have been reported by both guests and employees, deeming the Crescent "America's Most Haunted Resort Hotel." The hotel's regularly haunted room 218 remains booked every night and a popular ghost-hunting television show recently uncovered thermal video footage of a male figure haunting an area of the hotel.

Hotel del Coronado - Coronado, CA

The ghost of Kate Morgan, a woman who died on the steps of the hotel leading into the ocean more than a century ago, is thought to haunt a number of areas around the hotel - including the beach, her guest room and retail shops. In one day, paranormal investigators were able to detect more than 37 abnormal readings in Kate's guest room. Kate's ghost is also suspected of causing Marilyn Monroe memorabilia to "fly" or "fall" off the shelves in one of the hotel's specialty stores.
